Terms	Definitions
Complementary angle	Two angles whose measures have a sum of 90°
Supplementary angle	Two angles whose measure in degrees adds up to 180 degrees.
transformations	The moving of a figure by a translation, reflection, or rotation
translation	sliding a figure from one position to another without turning or flipping the figure or movement of a figure along a straight line and it does not change size or rotate
rotation	A movement of a figure by turning it around a fixed point
reflection	Flip A transformation in which a geometric figure is reflected across a line, creating a mirror image. That line is called the axis of reflection.
Symmetric	having similarity in size, shape, and relative position of corresponding parts and proportions are balanced
Scale	On a graph, the numbers placed at fixed distances to help label the graph & On a map the relationship between the distance on the map and the distance in real life ex: 1 in = 50 miles
corresponding	Sides that are in the same position in different plane figures
Similar figures	Figures with the same shape but not necessarily the same size Equal angles and proportional sides
Parallel	parallel lines Lines in a plane that never intersect
Perpendicular	perpendicular lines Two lines that intersect to form four right angles
Solid	An enclosed region of three-dimensional space.
base	A side of a polygon or a face of a solid figure by which the figure is measured or named
Rectangular Prism	A solid figure that has two congruent, Rectangle-shaped bases, and other faces that are all rectangles
Triangular Prism	A solid figure that has two triangle-shaped bases, and other faces that are all rectangles
Surface area	The sum of the areas of all the faces, or surfaces, of a solid figure
net	An arrangement of two-dimensional figures that can be folded to make a polyhedron
Cylinder	A solid figure with two parallel bases that are congruent circles
Cone	A solid figure that has a circular base and one vertex
