emotive tending to arouse emotion or designed to do so
tenuous insignificant or flimsy; used to describe another person's argument (or your own, if it lacks substantiating evidence or is marked by questionable assertions)
debunk expose the pretensions or falseness of (an argument, statement or viewpoint), especially by ridicule
nebulous lacking definite form, shape or content; vague or amorphous; may be used to describe reasoning or reasons
surmise to infer something from incomplete or uncertain evidence (verb); an idea inferred from inconclusive evidence (noun)
detrimental harmful, injurious, prejudicial; for example, to someone's health, well-being
contradict to affirm the opposite of a proposition or statement; to declare a proposition or statement to be false or incorrect
justification reasonable grounds for complaint, defence or viewpoint
controversial disputaable, arguable, describing a matter about which there is strong and often public disagreement
provocative acting as a stimulus or incitement, especially to anger, resentment, irritation or sexual desire
viewpoint the mental attitude that determines a person's opinions or judgements
beneficial causing a good result; advantageous (notice that the "bene" syllable is used in other words such as "benefactor" and "benevolence" with the same positive meaning)
connotation an association or idea suggested by a word or phrase; implication
presume to take something for granted; assume
conjecture the formation of conclusions from incorrect evidence, guess (noun); to infer or arrive at an opinion, conclusion, etc. from incomplete evidence; similar to surmise
unwarranted lacking justification or authorisation
contend to assert or maintain or argue earnestly
refute to prove a statement, theory, etc. to be false or incorrect; disprove
interpretation a clarification or explanation of the meaning of something; a construction of the significance or intention of something
