Human creation grows even more complex. The creations may help humans or could exceed its creator.
More Than Human
Biological constructs like androids and cyborgs, in contrast to robots, are not just metal and plastic. May result from genetic manipulation, sophisticated surgery, so on.
The shift from rural to urban areas shows humanity's move from organic to mechanical.
Utopias and Dystopias
Comparing societies and making judgements about which is superior. Worlds meant to portray a more ideal social organization are utopias, while those that exaggerate present trends to inhumane conclusions are dystopias.
A future world whose conclusion are apocalyptic. This could be positive or negative.
A portrayal of science and technology's effect on the reader's place in the universe may be ambivalent.
