persuasive | Writing with a purpose of convincing you to believe, think, or do something that the author feels strongly about. |
bias | When a writer expresses a particular preference or point of view that is personal, rather than scientific. A prejudiced view. |
paraphrase | Restating a passage in your own words while retaining the thoughts of the author. |
summarize | To capture the most important parts/ information of the text, but express them in a much shorter # of words. |
biography | A form of nonfiction in which a writer tells the life story of another person. |
autobiography | The story of one's life written by himself. |
propaganda | example: advertising "tricks" used to try to sell you something. |
myth | a traditional story about gods, ancestors, or heroes, told to explain the natural world or the customs and beliefs of a society |
