persuasive Writing with a purpose of convincing you to believe, think, or do something that the author feels strongly about.
bias When a writer expresses a particular preference or point of view that is personal, rather than scientific. A prejudiced view.
paraphrase Restating a passage in your own words while retaining the thoughts of the author.
summarize To capture the most important parts/ information of the text, but express them in a much shorter # of words.
biography A form of nonfiction in which a writer tells the life story of another person.
autobiography The story of one's life written by himself.
propaganda example: advertising "tricks" used to try to sell you something.
myth a traditional story about gods, ancestors, or heroes, told to explain the natural world or the customs and beliefs of a society
