| Ninja | The Japanese word for an original people known as the LinKuei or more properly in common Chinese or Mandarin, LinGui. These men were not soldiers, they were originally farmers who were sick of paying high taxes and finding that killing the soldiers was easier than paying the taxes. They were not really assasins. Atleast most of them were not. Some did sell their expertise, but few. Generally in groups as a Hidden Guard. |
| LinGui | The true name of the ninja. Mandarin for "Forest Ghost". This name well describes them since stealth was their main weapon. |
| Ninja Fighting | Otherwise known as Ninjutsu. This did not include spells or magic of any kind. It was a fighting style that was quite dirty and involved what most styles would consider "cheating". Hiding and often looking like their opponent to walk right past defenses was a specialty. |
| katana | This sword is not the same sword as what a ninja would use, though very similar. They share the same name, but the normal katana is made for Samurai. The ninja katana had a much wider guard so it could be used to be stepped on to climb. Some swords held hidden weapons such as poisons or small knives. Some split in half. Some though very few, could be folded to be used as a bow. Also, some swords were curved while the ninja katana was not. |
| shuriken | This was used far more than any other weapon. The sword was rarely used. This weapon being a projectile allowed a quick and silent death. |
| ninja armor | Not all ninja wore black clothes. In fact most of them didn't wear much more than what others did. But those who were Masters of Ninjutsu often wore full covering. Back in their time however, being seen was the least of their worries. There were few people who would know them or be able to tell someone else what they looked like. So hiding the face was more of a scare tactic or use of stealth to blend into their surroundings. |
| Ninja tools | Some of the tools a ninja would use were shoes that held a large wooden ring filled with air that allowed them to walk on water. Another favorite tool of the ninja is the blow dart gun and it's ammunition. These could contain anything from just a plain needle to a poisoned needle, a needle laced in a sleep agent, or many other things. Another tool developed to climb trees and boats was a glove generally using a blade in a shoe to dig in. The glove contained spikes that would allow the ninja to climb anywhere. Some other tools were a hook and rope to climb a particularly large wall obviously not made of wood. There were many others but overall these were favored most. |
