Percent means "out of 100"
of means "times" or "multiply"
out of means "divide"
Convert percentages to fractions put the percent over a 100 and remove the % sign.
Simplify if necessary
Convert fractions to percentages Multiply the percentage by 100 and put a % sign on the end
Convert percentages to decimals Divide by 100 and remove the % sign
Convert decimals to percentages Multiply by 100 and put a % sign on the end
Convert fractions to decimals divide the numerator by the denominator
Convert decimals to fractions Use place value!
Finding a percentage of Remember that % means "out of 100"
So 15% of 34kg = 15/100 x 34 kg
Increasing by a percentage Find the percentage of the quantity.
Add it on.
Decreasing by a percentage Find the percentage of the quantity.
Take it off.
Expressing quantities as a percentage If 3 out of 4 teachers are female, then convert three quarters into a percentage
