Terms	Definitions
Polygon	a closed plane figure with straight sides Examples: rectangles, squares, triangles, etc.
Regular polygon	a polygon in which the sides are all the same length (equilateral) and are symmetrically placed around a common center (equiangular) Examples: equilateral triangle, squares
Polyhedron	a three-dimensional figure whose surfaces are polygons
Prism	a polyhedron with two congruent and parallel faces (the bases) and whose lateral faces are parallelograms
Right prism	a prism whose lateral faces are rectangles
Pyramid	a polyhedron with a polygon base and triangular sides that meet at a single point, or the apex
Cylinder	A solid bounded by two congruent and parallel circular bases, one directly above the other
Face	a flat surface on a three-dimensional shape
Edge	the line formed by 2 faces
Vertex	the point where two or more edges meet
A net of a solid	A figure which can be folded to form the surface of a solid
