Panic of 1819
With new credit that banks offered people began to borrow money and move out west. U.S had to pay money they borrowed from Britain. banks were forced to recall citizens loans, citizens ran to the banks to withdraw their money and this (led to the nations first depression.)
McCulloch v. Maryland
stated that congress could create a national bank under the necessary and proper clause of the constitution.
Gibbons v. Ogden
supreme court ruled that congress had the power to regulate interstate and foreign commerce.
name for state banks, gave loans more easily, caused inflation, and led to panic of 1837.
Tariff of Abomination
New law passed by president John Quincy Adams. Called like that by the southerns because they opposed the new tariff. Helped Jackson defeat Adams in 1828.
set a precedent of removing political opponents from government jobs to replace them with supporters.
