The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom to Petition the government, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Assembly
The Second Amendment The right to bear arms
The Third Amendment The right of protection from quarting troops
The Fourth Amendment The government cannot arrest a person, search his home, or take his belongings without a legal warrant. To get a warrant; the government must declare what it is looking for or intends to do and why.
The Fifth Amendment People suspected of serious crimes must be formally accused by a grand jury. A person cannot be tried for the same crime twice or be forced to give evidence against himself. The government must be guided by the law when taking away a persons life, freedom, or property.
The Sixth Amendment Guarantees the right to a speedy trial by an impartial jury and to have a lawyer that will present your case and call your witnesses.
The Seventh Amendment The right to a trial by jury
The Eighth Amendment No excessive bail; and no cruel and unusual punishment.
The Ninth Amendment Unwritten rights of the people
The Tenth Amendment Reserved rights of the states; Prevents Federal Government from becoming too powerful with "implied" powers.
