| Internal rhyme | when one or both of the rhyming words is located at the beginning or middle of the line |
| Pure rhyme | the final sounds of the two words are exactly alike. Ex: funny, sunny |
| Slant rhyme | Also called half rhyme. Occurs when the final sounds of the two words are similar, but not exactly alike. Ex: calm, long |
| End rhyme | the two rhyming words are at the end of each line |
| Metrical lines | The amount of feet per line. Monometer, dimeter, trimeter, tetrameter, pentameter, hexameter, heptometer, octometer. |
