Visuo-Spatial Scratch Pad
(Minds eye) this is the part of the memory we use to recall pictures i.e think of purple banana on a table, now think of a blue monkey hiding under the table, now you can't hold onto the bananas can you? you have overworked the scratchpad and now it's pushing things out.
A temporary, limited-capacity store that allows the various components of working memory to integrate information and that serves as an interface between working memory and long-term memory.
Comprises of the Articulatory control system for verbal rehearsal (The Inner Voice) and the Phonological Store for acoustically coded items (The Inner Ear). allows for acoustic rehearsal.
Controls attention and the subsidiary system. (manages all other components in Working Memory).

Working Memory Model
information-processing model that shows the processes of the STM in more detail, including central executive, visuo-spatial scratch pad, episodic buffer and the phonological loop; but is less descriptive of both sensory and long term memory.
WM was proposed by Baddeley (1986) to address the limitations of the original STM model
the faculty or power of mental concentration
This system is the combination of structures used to alter the characteristics of the sounds of speech, including parts of the anatomically defined digestive and respiratory systems (the tongue, lips, teeth, soft palate, etc.)
