Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride (Thorazine)

Dizziness, drowsiness, othostatic hypotension. EPS occur with elderly, female, and pediatric patients who are dehydrated. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome may occur.
Contraindications: Alcohol withdrawal, comatose, lactation

Haloperidol (Haldol)

Incidence of EPS is high. Older adults experience more adverse effects and are prescribed half adult dose. NMS can occur.
Contraindications: Parkinson's, seizure disorders, alcoholism, severe depression.

Risperidone (Risperdal)

EPS, hyperactivity, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, visual disturbances, fever, orthostatic hypotension. Weight gain and hyperglycemia possible.
Contraindications: Seizure history, suicidal ideations, kidney/liver disease, dementia, cardiovascular disease.
