Adductor Pollicis	Adduction of the thumb is bringing it back into the plane of the palm of the hand from its previously abducted position. This muscle, however, also brings the thumb to the side of the palm and index finger.
Adductor Pollicis longus	The chief action of abductor pollicis longus is to abduct the thumb at the carpometacarpal joint, thereby moving the thumb anteriorly. By its continued action it helps to abduct the wrist.
Retinaculum	a fibrous band forming the carpal canal through which pass the tendons of the flexor muscles of the hand and fingers.
