aspect
is the speaker's 'view' of the event as to whether it has duration or not, is completed or not, is repetitive or not, or connected to the time of speaking or not.

aspect is the speaker's 'view' of the event as to whether it has duration or not, is completed or not, is repetitive or not, or connected to the time of speaking or not.
attributive position the position of an adjective before the noun (and after the determiner if it is present) e.g. the TALL man
predicative position the position of an adjective after the verb e.g. The man is TALL
base form the simple form of the verb without any endings , the dictionary form of a verb, used in an infinitive after to: see, eat, go, be
causative Passive, when someone performs a service for someone else - John had his car fixed
clause a group of words forming a grammatical unit, containing a subject and finite verb. It forms a sentence or part of a sentence.
cleft sentence a sentence which has been divided into two parts, each with its own verb, to emphasise a particular piece of information, e.g. It was Mark who did most of the Quizlets / it was Alex who paid for the meal
complement the element that follows linking verbs, such as BE and SEEM, and which provides further info about the subject.
deixis the function of pointing or specifying from the perspective of a participant in an act of speech or writing / The way language points to a spatial and temporal features of context: See you then, come here now
determiner one of a limited class of noun modifiers that determine the referents of noun phrases, including articles, demonstratives, possessives, quantifiers, numerals
finite verb a verb that has person, number and tense, e.g. Brad WORKED for his father
non-finite verb a verb that doesn't show person, number and tense, e.g. Before WORKING for his father, he used TO WORK in an office
genitive serving to express or indicate possession
intensifier a class of words, generally adverbs, which are used to modify gradable adjectives, adverbs, vers, or 'ed participles, e.g. It is VERY good, It was COMPLETELY destroyed, I ABSOLUTELY detest it.
modifier a word or group of words that gives further information about another word or group of words.
noun phrase it normally forms the sub, obj or complement of a clause. It contains an obligatory HEAD and optional elements before or after the head, e.g. the BRIDGE over the River Kwai
