Henry Clay invented this idea. It had three main parts, a strong banking system, a tariff, and a network of roads and canals.

Maryland was trying to tax the national bank and Supreme Court ruled that federal law was stronger than the state law-"THE POWER TO TAX IS THE POWER TO DESTROY".

TARIFF OF ABOMINATIONS
Protective tariff passed by the U.S. Congress in 1828, South strongly opposed (South Carolina) and tried to nullify
Calhoun's theory that each state had the right to nullify, or reject, a federal law that it considered unconstitutional
INDIAN REMOVAL ACT OF 1830
"Protect Indians" by moving them to Oklahoma. Jackson defies Supreme Court who said Indians didn't have to be removed. Supreme Court is powerless.
WORCESTER V. GEORGIA
Supreme Court Decision - Cherokee Indians were entitled to federal protection from the actions of state governments which would infringe on the tribe's sovereignty - Jackson ignored it
TRAIL OF TEARS
800 mile forced march the Cherokee made from their homeland in Georgia to present day Oklahoma; resulted in the death of almost one quarter of the tribe members
