distance	how far an object moves
force	cause an object to move along the ground by pulling or pushing
energy	the ability to do work
exert	put to use
friction	rubbing of one object on another object
fulcrum	a center point of balance
gravity	the earth's pull
inclined plane	a raised platform, going up slowly
joule	a way to measure energy and electricity
kinetic energy	energy that is being used, moving energy
lever	a bar that makes it easier to move things
machine	any device that uses or modifies energy to perform a task
meter	a measurement of about 3 feet
metric system	a system of measurement based on the number 10, centimeters, meters ect.
motion	moving from one place to another
newton	the man who discovered gravity
pivot	to turn sharply
potential energy	stored energy, not yet moving
power	physical strength
pulley	a simple machine that consists of a rope that fits into a groove in a wheel
resistance	any force that is going the opposite of way of the force being applied.
screw	a small metal piece with a point, and a raised line that helps it dig into wood or metal.
simple machine	a machine that does work with only one movement
thread	the raised line going around the outside of a screw
watt	unit for power
wedge	a block of wood used to prevent the sliding or rolling of a heavy object
wheel and axle	simple machine that consists of a shaft or axle attached to the center of a larger wheel, so that the shaft and the wheel rotate together
work	operate in a certain place, area, or specialty
