Cataract	A large bed of rocks piled in the river that produces small waterfalls
Famine	a period of serious shortage of food
Joseph	A Hebrew who had been sent to Egypt to be a slave, became a vizier of Egypt
Menes	The king of lower and upper Egypt
Akhenaten	The first to take the title of pharaoh
Flood Season	(June-September) During that time no work could be done with crops. Men spent there time working on buildings.
Planting Season	(October-February) Men worked on irrigation projects to hold back as much extra water as possible. As the water left the fields, they planted crops.
Harvest Season	(March-May) No extra water,so the Egyptians harvested their crops
Shadoof	A long pole with a bucket tied on one end to dip water
Mummies	Placed inside large and costly tombs
The Great Pyramid	The most famous and largest of the pyramids still standing today located near the modern city of (Cairo) {over four hundred eighty feet tall and contained over two million stone blocks each weighing two and a half tons.}
The Great Sphinx	This monument stands next to the Great Pyramid. The Sphinx has the head of a man and the body,legs,and paws of a lion.
Queen Hatsheput	She was ancient Egypt's (only) women pharaoh The most beautiful temple ever built belonged to Queen Hatsheput.
Ra / Obelisks	The ancient Egyptians sun god. They built monuments to honor and represent their sun god.
Valley of the Kings	The pharaohs who ruled between 1500 B.C. and 1100 B.C.used this valley as a cemetery.
"King Tut"	His tomb is more famous than he is.
Scribe	Was like a secretary to the ruler or to leaders in the army, the court, or the temple
palette	it holds the paints, a water pot to moisten the brush, and a piece of cloth to use an eraser.
papyrus	Used to make the world's first paper like material
Why did the Egyptians choose mostly white as a color to wear?	Because this color reflects the sun making white the most comfortable color to wear in a hot dry climate.
