a + b = b + a
example: 3 + 7 = 7 + 3
You can change the order of the numbers.

Commutative Property of Multiplication

a x b = b x a
example: 3 x 7 = 7 x 3
You can change the order of the numbers.

(a + b) + c = a + (c + b)
example: (6 + 4) + 5 = 6 + (4 + 5)
If its more then two numbers, you can change the position of the parentheses/bracketts.

Associative Property of Multiplication

(a x b) x c = a x (c x b)
example: (6 x 4) x 5 = 6 x (4 x 5)

Distributive Property

a(b + c) = ab + ac
example: 5(4 + 2) = 5 x 4 + 5 x 2

a + 0 = a (a - 0 = a)
example: 9 + 0 = 9

Identity Property of Multiplication

a x 1 = a (a/1 = a)
example: 6 x 1 = 6

a + (-a) = 0
example: 5 + (-5) = 0

Inverse Property of Multiplication

a x (reciprocal) = 1
example: 5 x (1/5) = 1

Multiplication Property of Zero

n x 0 = 0
example: 2 x 0 = 0

Multiplication Property of -1

-1 x n = -n
example: -1 x 2 = -2
