Target: All cells

Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)

Secreted by: Anterior Pituitary
Action: Secretion of glucocorticoids ans sex steroids.
Target: Adrenal cortex

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Secreted by: Anterior Pituitary
Action: Formation and secretion of T3/T4
Target: Thyroid Gland

Prolactin (PRL)

Secreted by: Anterior Pituitary
Action: Milk productionand breast development in the female.
Target: Mammary Glands

Gonadotropins (LH & FSH)

Secreted by: Anterior Pituitary
Action: Egg follicle and sperm formation.
Target: Ovaries and Testes

Oxytocin (OT)

Secreted by: Posterior Pituitary
Action: Uterine contractions, Milk ejection, Contraction of sperm duct and prostate in male.
Target: Uterus, mammary glans in female. Reproductivev tract of male.

Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH)

Secreted by: Posterior Pituitary
Action: Water retention and elevation in blood pressure.
Target: Kidneys

Thyroxine & Triiodothyronine (T4 & T3)

Secreted by: Thyroid Gland
Action: Increase ATP formation in mitochonddria. Promote normal growth.
Target: All cells

Calcitonin (CT)

Secreted by: Thyroid Gland
Action: Decreases blood Calcium
Target: Bones & Kidneys

Parathyroid Hormone (PTH)

Secreted by: Parathyroid Glands
Action: Increase blood Calcium
Target: Bones & Kidneys

Thymopoetin, Thymosin, Thymulin

Secreted by: Thymus
Action: Stimulate development of other lymphatic organs and regulate development and activity of Tcells.

Glucocorticoids (hydrocortisone, cortisol, & corticosterone)

Secreted by: Adrenal Cortex (Zona Fasciculata)
Action: Increase formation of glucose from fats and protein. Increase rate of glycogen synthesis in the liver. Decrease inflammation.
Target: All cells

Mineralocorticoid (aldosterone)

Secreted by: Adrenal Cortex (Zona Glomeruloza)
Action: Increase sodium and water retention. Increase potassium excretion.
Target: Kidney and Sweat Glands.

Sex Steroids

Secreted by: Adrenal Cortex (Zona Reticularis)

Catecholamines (epinepherine & norepinephrine)

Secreted by: Adrenal Medulla and Sympathetic NS
Action: React to stress quickly by increasing heart rate/strength, increasing blood pressure, and increasing glycogen and fat catabolism for energy.
Target: Most cells

Insulin

Secreted by: Pancreas (Beta Cells)
Action: Decrease blood glucose levels by increasing glycogen synthesis in liver and skeletal muscles. Increasing uptake of glucose by cells. Increasing rate of ATP synthesis. Increases fat synthesis.
Target: Most cells

Glucagon

Secreted by: Pancreas (Alpha Cells)
Action: Increase blood glucose by: increasing catabolism of glycogen in liver and skeletal muscles, formation of glucose from amino acids in liver, release of glucose into blood, increase fat catabolism.
Target: Liver and Adipose tissues
