prewriting is the first stage of the writing process. It is when a writer gathers his/her thoughts before writing. This can be done by making a list, web, outline, etc. planning is the second stage of the writing process. It is when a writer reflects on the material produced during pre-writing and develops a plan to achieve the aim of the paper including SORTING through ideas and ORGANIZING their thoughts drafting is the third stage of writing process during which a writer follows their plan and expresses ideas in complete sentences, links them, and arranges them in a sequence. WRITE, WRITE and WRITE pause is the forth stage of the writing process during which a writer puts their work aside and won't look at it for a day. If they feel inspired they may add content. read is the fifth stage of the writing process during which a writer picks up a pen and focuses on CONTENT. They worry about focus, organization details, support, flow and word choice. revision is the sixth stage of the writing process during which a writer focuses on five areas: ADDING details/support; CUTTING extra information; REARRANGING to find the best organization; COMBINING sentences or ideas; and CHANGING boring words editing is the seventh stage of the writing process during which a writer worries about CONVENTIONS including spelling, punctuation, grammar, subject/verb agreement, sentence variety, capitalization, pronoun/antecedent clarity, and format publishing is the final stage of the writing process during which time a writer shares their final draft with its intended audience.
