block The process of stopping the ball with flat hands just before it crosses the net. The Block may be made by any front row player.
fault An infraction of the rules.
Forearm Pass/Bump A pass made off the forearnms. Used to play served balls, hard driven spikes or any low ball.
Front Court The playing area in which it is legal to block or attack.
Held ball A ball that is simultaneously contacted above the net with the finger pads.
play over The replay of a rally due to a held ball or the official prematurely suspending play, the server re-served with no point awarded.
point This is scored when a fault is made.
rotation shifting of players clockwise upon gaining the ball from the opponents.
serve the method of putting the ball in play over the net by striking it with the hand.
side out this is called when the serving team fails to win a point or plays the ball illegally.
spike a ball hit with top spin and strong forward force into the opponent's court. This is considered an offensive attacking move.
