| isthmus | the opposite of a strait a narrow peice of land that connects to a larger peice of land. |
| island | a land mass surrounded by water on all sides. |
| desert | a dry region that is usually sandy without trees. |
| fjord | a long narrow steep sided inlet from the sea. |
| glacier | a huge mass of ice that moves slowly down a mountain. |
