Politics/Government The form or system of rule by which a state, community,etc. is govern
Monarchy Ruled by a king of queen. It is passed down my generation, and is lifetime.
Hereditary A type of monarch power. Absolute power over all aspects of government
Constitutional A type of monarch power limited by a parliament
Theocracy Religious leaders that have supreme authority .
Olgiarchy Power in the hands of a few people. Generally show no concern for the people
Dictatorship Single, powerfule rule. No regard for welfare of people and supported by the military.
Democracy Goverment by the people; form of goverment in which the supreme power is vested in the poeple and excercised directly by them or their elected agents under a free electoral system.
Indirect A type of democracy in which political process that the people control the government through elected political officials (senators and representatives)
Direct A type of democracy in which citizens make policy and law decisions in person, without going through representatives and legislatures.(ex town meeting)
Religion A specific fundamental belief and practices generally agreed upon by persons or sects
Monotheism A belief system in which there is only one god who is supreme over the universe and all beings.
Polytheism A belief system in which there are many gods that rule and control the happenings of the universe
Animism The belief that natural objects have souls that may exist apart from their material bodies
Atheism The belief that god does not exist
Traditional(M) Type of military that used pre-gun welfare. Weapons are primitive such as swords and spears. Close combat
Convential Type of military that uses modern warfare without the use of nuclear weapons such as guns, missles, grenades, use of technolgy.
Nuclear,biological, chemical Type of military that uses weapons to wage war and terror
Terrorism Striking at civilians, as well as military targets. Can be fought by as few as a single person. Designed to cause panic in some cases, mass destruction in others.
Economy The management of the resoures, country, etc. especially with view to it productivity.
Traditional(E) A type of economy where each person or family only produces enough for their own needs.
Market A type of economy where individuals choose what goods and services are made and consumed. Individuals use money to exhange good and services.
Command A type of economy where the government chooses what goods and services are sold and consumed. Goverment overlooks all products/buisnesses.
Mixed A type of economy that has a combination of two or more systems of traditional, market, and command economy.
Education the act of process of imparting or aquiring particular knowledge or skills
Oral Taking the advice of others, learning through speech
Observation A type of education where a person learns by looking, listening. ( Riding a bike, swimming, etc.)
Formal A type of education where a person reads and writes at school. Structured learning.
Utilitarian Art Art created expressly to serve some function for a culture- intruct/indoctrinate.
Art for Art's Sake Art for pure enjoyment
Stratified A social structure with mulitple levels within society
Egalitarian Everyone is equal
