ACROSTIC: Writing words or phrases horizontally from a word that is written vertically.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY POEM: Writing a poem about yourself following a specific format.

CINQUAIN: A five line poem that does not rhyme and folows a syllable pattern such as 2-4-6-8-2. A noun is in the first line and a synonym of it is in the last line.

COLOR POETRY: This poem is made up of couplets that visually describe colors and have end rhyme.

CONCRETE POEM/SHAPE POEM: Sentences are written to create the shape of what they are describing.

EPITAPH: A brief poem inscribed on a tombstone praising a deceased person, usually with rhming lines. This is fun to write during Halloween.

FREE VERSE POETRY: An irregular form of poetry in which the content and structure are free from traditional poetry rules.

IRISH LIMERICK: A humerous five line poem full of nonsense. The first, second and fifth lines rhyme as do the third and fourth.

MONO-RHYME POEM: A poem in which all of the lines have a common end rhyme.

PHONE POEM: A poem is written horizontally from phone number. The number of syllables in each line depends on the number.

TONGUE TWISTER: A sentence or stanza in a poem whose beginning sounds use alliteration.
