crazy people who believed in more than one god, reincarnation, and thought that all life was suffering.

Vishnu | kindly god, preserver of the universe, keeps good prevailing (where the idea for avatar the last air-bender) |
Shiva | the creator-destroyer, keeps balance on earth |
atman | the divine essence in each living thing(gods are in everything) |
reincarnation | the belief that when you die, you are reborn into another living thing |
The Brahmans (1st caste) | the highest of all castes, must follow strictest rules and cannot function without other castes |
The Kshatriyas (2nd caste) | warriors and protectors, must follow most of the same rules as Brahmans |
The Vaishyas (3rd caste) | farmers and traders, lend money to keep enterprises going |
The Sudras (4th caste) | preformed tasks which involved pollution (like agricultural work, leather making, and disposing of garbage) |
untouchables (harijans) | people who broke the rules and had intermerrages;they and their children were outcasts because they were thought to ruin purity |
jati | the 1000 subcastes that preform specialty jobs. they still have to follow the dhama of their caste |
karma | action that can corrupt spiritual quality |
dhama | the law or rules the varna have to follow |
jatis | the many subdivisions of the castes |
