Inauguration
The swearing in ceremony whereby an individual assumes an office or position of authority, such as the office of President or Governor.
War Powers Act of 1973
In 1973, Congress passed this law which requires that soldiers sent into military action overseas by the President be brought back within sixty days unless Congress approves the action.
Mayor
The chief executive of a town or city government.
Trade
To engage in the exchange, purchase, or sale of resources, goods or services.
Governor
The chief executive of a state government.
Price
The cost to buy a resource, good or service, and what is recieved when a resource, good or service is sold.
Lieutenant Governor
In Maryland, the elected official serving as deputy to the Governor, who may serve in the Governor's place under certain circumstancese.
President
The chief executive of the federal government.

State of the Union Address
The yearly report by the President to Congress in which the nation's condition is described and programs are recommended. This report is required by the U.S. Constitution.

The executive officer ranking immediately below the President, who may serve in the President's place under certain circumstances. This person also serves as the presiding officer of the U.S. Senate.
Treaty
A formal agreement between the governments of two or more countries. The President can negotiate these agreements, but the U.S. Senate must ratify (approve) them.
