Bill Of Rights The First 10 Amendments.
1st Amendment Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.
2nd Amendment The right to keep and bear arms
3rd Amendment In times of peace, citizens do not have to quarter soldiers when they are at your door.
4th Amendment Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures
5th Amendment Right to be paid fairly if government takes your property
6th Amendment Right to a speedy and public trial. Right to a fair jury.
7th Amendment Right to a trial by jury in civil cases.
8th Amendment Right against cruel or unusual punishment and excessive bail.
9th Amendment Rights not mentioned in the constitution belong to citizens.
10th Amendment powers not given to the federal government belong to the states.
Tinker vs. Des Moines Supreme Court case that stated that students do not lose their freedom of speech rights in high school. Mary Beth tinker wore black arm bands to protest the Vietnam War. Then went to court and the student won.
