Triple Alliance Alliance between Germany, Italy, and Austria Hungry

conscription compulsory military service, draft
militarism a policy of glorifying military power and keeping an army always ready for war.
nationalism a strong feeling of pride in and devotion to one's country

Schlieffen Plan Germany's military plan where German troops would rapidly defeat France and then move east to attack Russia, avoiding war on two fronts.

Fighting with trenches, mines, and barbed wire. Horrible living conditions, great slaughter, no gains, stalemate, used in WWI.
