Definitions

point
no length or width, just something that indicates an exact location
line extends forever in both directions
line segment A straight line which links two points without extending past them.
ray A portion of a line which starts at a point and goes off in a particular direction to infinity.
Plane A flat surface that is infinitely large and with zero thickness
Angle A shape, formed by two lines or rays diverging from a common point (the vertex)
Vertex The common endpoint of two or more rays or line segments
Collinear A set of points that lie in a straight line
Coplanar Lying in the same plane
Right Angle an angle that measures 90 degrees
Acute Angle an angle less than 90 degrees but more than 0 degrees
Obtuse Angle an angle between 90 and 180 degrees
Straight Angle an angle of 180 degrees
Corresponding Angles angles in the same place on different lines
Alternate Interior Angles angles between 2 lines and on opposite sides of a transversal
alternate exterior angles Angles that lie outside a pair of lines and on opposite sides of a transversal.
same side interior angles two interior angles on the same side of the transversal
angle bisector a ray that divides an angle into two congruent angles
perpendicular bisector A line that is perpendicular to a segment at its midpoint.
complementary angles two angles whose sum is a right angle
supplementary angles Two angles whose sum is 180 degrees
adjacent angles are a pair of angles with a common vertex and a common side, but no common interior points
vertical angles two angles whose sides form two pairs of opposite rays
intersecting lines lines that cross at one point
parallel lines coplanar lines that do not intersect
perpendicular lines Two lines that intersect to form right angles
transversals a line that intersects 2 or more other lines
