Narthex

Covered porch-like structure or an inside area separated from the nave by a screen

Nave

The area where parishioners sit or stand

Crossing

The place where the nave, chancel and transept intersect (often domed)

Transept

The transverse arm of a cruciform church

Sanctuary and Choir

A place where the Tabernacle is kept; separated from the nave with altar rails

Apse

Semicircular or polygonal termination where the altar is located

The place where the Eucharistic Sacrifice is offered

The podium on the left side of the church as you face the altar from where the Gospel is read

Lectern

The stand on the right side of the church as you face the altar from where the Epistles are read

Ambulatory

A sort of walkway which can be wither inside or outside of a structure

Sacristy

Where sacred vestments, liturgical vessels, etc. are stored
