1st amendment freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government
2nd amendment right to establish a state militia, right to bear arms
3rd amendment soldiers are not allowed to stay in your homes without your permission during peace times
4th amendment protects against illegal search and seizure without a valid search warrant
5th amendment no trial unless formally charged by a grand jury, no double jeopardy, protection from self incrimination, eminent domain, due process of the law
6th amendment must be informed of charges, given an attorney, speedy and public trial, question witness, call witnesses
7th amendment right to a jury trial in a civil case over $20
8th amendment no excessive bail or fines, no cruel and unusal punishment
9th amendment states that all other rights not spelled out in the Consitution are given to the people, right to privacy
10th amendment reserved powers, states that powers not given to national government are reserved for state governments
