Under § 287, Border Patrol Agents have the authority to perform the following duties within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States:

-The statutory authority to interrogate aliens
-The statutory authority to administer oaths and statements
-The statutory authority to search and seize
-The statutory authority to board and search vessels
-The statutory authority to arrest
-The statutory authority to enter private lands

Under § 235, Border Patrol Agents have the authority to perform the following duties within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States:

-The statutory authority to inspect and expedite removal of inadmissible arriving aliens
-The statutory authority to inspect aliens seeking admission
-The statutory authority to administer oaths and statements
-Subpoena Powers
-The statutory authority to search conveyances
-The statutory authority to detain aliens

Under § 274, Border Patrol Agents have the statutory authority to:

Seize conveyances within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States.
