"Grace" something good humans dont deserve but God gives us anyway.
Sacrament (comes from sacred) a tangible sign or symbol of an intangible transfer of God's grace.
State of grace to be in a relationship with God.
Baptism external sign: H20 symbolizes a spiritual cleansing from original sin.
intangible transfer of grace "protected through baptism"
confirmation in medevil time- puberty was the age. the statement that this person is ready for an active part in the church. "laying on of hands"

Eucharist (communion) replicates the body and blood of christ. The bible commands us all to take communion. symbollically: we are participating in that suffering. believer continually renews God's presence through eucharist.
Penance the act of forgiveness. (spirit of regret)

3) assignment ( in m.e times this was more beneficial for the church then the "sinner")
4) the priest absolves your sin.
Extreme Unction(last rites) (praying for the dead)
