alluvial soil a fine-grained fertile soil deposited by water flowing over flood plains or in river beds
wadi gully or streambed in northern Africa and the Middle East that remains dry except during rainy season
kum Kums are deserts coverd in dunes in Central Asia and MENA. The dunes are created by winds that blow the sand into dune like shapes. They offer a big contrast to the abundant fields.

Tigris River A river in southwestern Asia that flows through the eastern part of the Fertile Crescent
Euphrates River A river in southwestern Asia that flows through the southern part of the Fertile Crescent.
Atlas Mountains a mountain range in northern Africa between the Mediterranean and the Sahara Desert
Caucasus Mountains mountain range between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea
pastoralism The raising and grazing of livestock
cereal grass whose starchy grains are used as food: wheat
Sahara the world's largest desert (3,500,000 square miles) in northern Africa.( largest in the world)
Oasis a spot of fertile land in a desert, fed by water from wells or underground springs
Rub' al Khali large, sandy desert also named the Empty Quarter. it is located in the southeastern part of Saudi Arabia, but north of Oman
Garagum (Kara Kum) A place with a dry hot climate,
it's located in Turkmenistan and covers nearly 70% of the area in Turkmenistan.
