flower

plant part that makes seeds or fruit.

seed

adaptation

body part or way animal acts that helps it stay alive

amphibian

an animal that lives part (usually the first part) of its life in water and another part on land.

camouflage

a way that animals blend into their surroundings.

habitat

a place where plants and animals live.

predator

an animal that hunts other animals for food.

drought

a long period of time with little or no rain.

fossil

what is left of a living thing from the past.

food chain

a model of the order in which living things get the food they need. Most food chains start with the Sun.

prey

Animals that are hunted by predators.

food web

two or more food chains that are connected.

endangered

An animal that is in danger of becoming extinct.

extinct

A term applied to a species of plant or animal that was once living but now is not.

axis

a center line that an object spins around.

orbit

the path Earth takes around the Sun.

phase

the Moon's shape as we see it from Earth.

star

an object in space made of hot, glowing gases.

rotation

the spinning of Earth on its axis
