| X - Axis | the horizontal axis in a two-dimensional coordinate system such as a graph |
| Y - Axis | the vertical axis in a two-dimensional coordinate system such as a graph |
| Origin | point of intersection of all axes in a coordinate system. In a plane it has the coordinates (0,0) |
| Quadrant 1 | A quarter of a plane surface that is located at the top right of the coordinate system. The x and y value for any point in this quadrant is (positive, positive) |
| Quadrant 2 | A quarter of a plane surface that is located at the top left of the coordinate system. The x and y value for any point in this quadrant is (negative, positive) |
| Quadrant 3 | A quarter of a plane surface that is located at the bottom left of the coordinate system. The x and y value for any point in this quadrant is (negative, negative) |
