Food Chain A line of living things in which each feeds on the one below it.
Producer An organism that makes it's own food. Ex: green plant
Consumer An organism that eats plants and/or animals.
Predator An animal that eats other animals and is usually a hunter.
Prey An animal that is eaten by other animals, and is usually hunted.
Decomposer An organism that breaks down dead or decaying matter. It returns minerals and nutrients to the soil.
Food Web All the food chains in a community (2 or more food chains that overlap.)
Ecosystem All the living and nonliving things in an area. Ex: Rocks, plants, dirt, animals
