Food Chain | A line of living things in which each feeds on the one below it. |
Producer | An organism that makes it's own food. Ex: green plant |
Consumer | An organism that eats plants and/or animals. |
Predator | An animal that eats other animals and is usually a hunter. |
Prey | An animal that is eaten by other animals, and is usually hunted. |
Decomposer | An organism that breaks down dead or decaying matter. It returns minerals and nutrients to the soil. |
Food Web | All the food chains in a community (2 or more food chains that overlap.) |
Ecosystem | All the living and nonliving things in an area. Ex: Rocks, plants, dirt, animals |
