noun

A word that names a person, place, a thing, or an idea.

pronoun

A word used in place of a noun.
Examples: I, she, he, him, they, them, it

verb

A word that shows action or links a subject to another word in the sentence.

adjective

A word used to describe a noun or a pronoun. Adjectives tell what kind, how many, or which one.

adverb

A word used to modify a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. They tell how, when, where, how often, or how much.

Preposition

Words that show position, direction, or how two words or ideas are related to each other.
Think of the relationship of a tree and a squirrel. The squirrel can go over, under, behind a tree.

Conjunction

These connect individual words or groups of words.

Interjection

A word or phrase used to express strong emotion or surprise.

Articles

These are the adjectives: a, an, the

Modify

Means to describe; to give information about.

synonym

A word with a meaning similar to that of another word. Means the same.

antonym

A word with a meaning opposite that of another word. Means the opposite.
