Christian Theism Prime reality is the infinite, personal God revealed in the Holy Scriptures. This God is triune, transcendent & immanent, omniscient, sovereign, & good. Deism A transcendent God, as a First Cause, created the universe but then left it to run on its own. God is thus not immanent, not triune, not fully personal, not sovereign over human affairs, not providential. Naturalism Prime reality is matter. Matter exists eternally & is all there is. God does not exist. Nihilism Strictly speaking, this is a denial of any philosophy or world view -- a denial of the possibility of knowledge, a denial that anything is valuable. Atheistic Existentialism This world view accepts Naturalisms answer to World View Q 1. Theistic Existentialism This world view accepts Theisms answer to World View Q 1. New Age or New Consciousness Whatever the nature of being (idea or matter, energy or particle), the self is kingpin, the prime reality. Three approaches to the question of reality: occult version, psychedelic version, & conceptual relativist version. Postmodernism Accepts the foundation of naturalism: Matter exists eternally; God does not exist. (Sire, pg 217, 5th edition) (This is really a set of pressures on all world views existing today rather than a world view itself)
