Phases the different shapes of the moon you see from Earth
Tides the regular rise and fall of the ocean's surface influenced by the moon's gravity pulling on earth
Spring tide When the tidal range is greatest. (full moon and new moon)
Neap tide a less than average tide occurring at the first and third quarters of the moon
Rotation the act of rotating as if on an axis
Revolution a single complete turn (axial or orbital)
Tropic zone area near equator - warm year round
Temperate zone moderate climate zone between the polar zones and the tropics
Polar zone cold climate zone where the sun's rays strike Earth at a very low angle
Equinox either of two times of the year when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator and day and night are of equal length
Solstice either of the two times of the year when the sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator
Angle of incidence the angle that a line makes with a line perpendicular to the surface at the point of incidence
