### origin

the point of intersection of coordinate axes.
where the values of the coordinates are all zero

### translation (slide)

A translation moves the figure in a straight line, changing its location, but not its position. Also called a slide.

### reflection (flip)

A transformation that produces the mirror image of a figure.

### rotation (90° turn)

(mathematics) a transformation in which the coordinate axes are rotated by a fixed angle about the origin

### pie (circle) graph

A graph that uses sectors of a circle to compare parts to the whole and parts to other parts.

average

### median

The middle number in a set of numbers that are listed in order

### mode

the most often number in a set of numbers

### range

the difference between the highest and lowest scores in a distribution

### outlier

a value much greater or much less than the others in a data set

### stem and leaf plot

A method of graphing a collection of numbers by placing the "stem" digits (or initial digits) in one column and the "leaf" digits (or remaining digits) out to the right.

### line plot

a graph that shows the frequency of data along a number line

### square root

a number that when multiplied by itself equals a given number

### perfect square

A square of a whole number.

### input output table

one way to describe a function. It lists the inputs and outputs.

### Hypotenuse

the side of a right triangle opposite the right angle

### accute angle

an angle that is less than 90 degrees

### obtuse angle

an angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees

### right angle

an angle that measures 90 degrees
