Heredity

The passing on of characteristic's from parents to offspring.

Trait

Characteristic's that are inherited.

Genetic's

The branch of biology that studies heredity.

Gamete

Male and female sex cells.

Fertilization

When the male gamete units with the female gamete.

Zygote

The end result of a fertilized cell.

Pollination

The transfer of male pollen to female plants.

Hybrid

The offspring of parents that have different forms of a trait.

Allele

Different gene forms.

Dominant

A gene that is more often used than another.

Recessive

Can be over powered by dominant genes.

Law of Segregation

It explains the result of the crosses.

Phenotype

The way the organisms look and behave.

Genotype

The Allele combination of an organism.

Homozygous

When two Alleles are the same and for the same trait.

Heterozygous

When two Alleles for the trait are different.

Law of Independent Assortment

The laws that Mendel had made up and published.
