A direct object pronoun substitutes for a direct object. These pronouns are used as objects of verbs, and their placement is different in English and Spanish. The English third person direct object it (or plural, them) is expressed by third person direct object pronoun forms. In Spanish, the direct object pronoun goes immediately before the conjugated verb.
Ex: John sees you. = Juan te ve.
