| assonance | the repitition of some or similar vowel sounds in stressed syables that end with different consonant sounds |
| consonance | the repetition of consonants (or consonant patterns) especially at the ends of words |
| End Rhyme | Same sounds occuring at the end of lines. |
| rhyme scheme | the pattern of end rhyme in a poem which can be charted as a, b, c...etc. |
| stanza | a fixed number of lines of verse forming a unit of a poem |
| extended metaphor | A type of a figure of speech that is developed over several lines or with several examples. |
| implied metaphor | Implies or suggests the comparison between the two thing without stating it directly |

| Narrative poetry | non-dramatic, objective verse with regular rhyme scheme and meter which relates a story or narrative |
