# Chapter 6 Vocab - Geometry

## 12 terms

### Vertical angles

two angles in which the opposite rays of the sides of one angle are the insides of the other angle, opposite angles from vertex

### transversal

A line that intersects at least two other lines

### exterior angles

When transversal line intersects two lines, they are the angles outside

### interior angles

When a transversal line intersects two lines, they are the angles inside

### same side exterior angles

Angles formed by two lines and a transversal that are on the same side of the transversal and on the outside

### same side interior angles

Angles formed by two lines and a transversal that are between the two given lines and are on the same side of the transversal, and on the inside

### alternate exterior angles

Angles formed by two lines and a transversal that are on opposite sides of the transversal and not between the two given lines (outside, opposite)

### alternate interior angles

Angles formed by two lines and a transversal that are between the two given lines and are on opposite sides of the transversal (inside, opposite)

### corresponding angles

Any pair of angles in similar locations in relation to a transversal intersecting two lines

### Parallel

two or more lines that lie in the same plane but have no points of intersection. Symbol is ll

### supplementary

angles that are next to each other and add up to 180 degrees (making a straight line)

### complementary

angles next to each other and add up to 90 degrees (making a right angle)
