Prime Mover

The muscle that has the major responsibility for causing a particular movement

Anterior

The front of an organism, organ or part.

Posterior

The back of an organism, organ or part.

Flexion

A movement that decreases the angle of the joint and brings two bones closer together.

Extension

A movement that increases the angle, or the distance, between two bones or parts of body.

Adduction

A movement toward the midline of the body

Abduction

A movement away from the midline of the body

Medial

A location/landmark toward from the midline of the body

Lateral

A location/landmark away from the midline of the body

Pronation

moving the palms of the hand from the anterior facing position to the posterior facing position

Supination

moving the palms of the hand from the posterior facing position to the anterior facing position
