In Japanese, some colours are adjectives while some are nouns. There are two types of adjectives in Japanese. When describing (noun) colours with nouns, you must put the particle [no] between them (as they are both nouns): Kiiro no booshi - Yellow Hat Haiiro no kuruma - Grey Car Shiroi, Kuroi, Aoi In Japanese, some colours are adjectives while some are nouns. Haiiro no kuruma - Grey Car
Shiroi, Kuroi, Aoi and Akai are all adjectives in this set. The rest are nouns.
When using adjectives, you can just put them directly before the word you are describing, such as:
Akai Ringo - Red Apple

Kuroi Kami - Black Paper
