iain74 : fungirl99: this is neither hiragana nor katakana; it is not Japanese. It is bopomofo or zhuyin; it's the pronunciation system still used in Taiwan for Mandarin and I should know; I live in Taiwan and I've studied Japanese also quite a bit; there's another set with the finals for Bopomofo, you could combine them and study them all together and I have a set of all 398 possible syllables (so far as I can tell) of Mandarin with bopomofo to mainland pinyin correspondances.
