Skeletal system Organ system whose primary function is to support the body and allow it to move
Tendon Strands of tough connective tissue that connects skeletal muscles to your bones
Cartilage Soft, gel-like padding between bones that protects joints and helps movement
Flexor muscle A muscle that bends part of your body, such as a biceps muscle
Extensor muscle A muscle that straightens part of your body, such as a triceps muscle
Dermis The layer of skin below the epidermis that contains oil & sweat glands, nerves, hair follicles, and more
Epidermis- The surface layer of skin (or cells) on a plant or animal
Artery A blood vessel that carries blood away FROM the heart to the body's organs
Vein A blood vessel that carries blood from the body organs TO the heart
Capillary The smallest blood vessels which connect arteries & veins and that allow exchanges of water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients and wastes between the blood and tissue cells
Pulmonary circulation The circulation of blood between the heart and lungs
Systemic circulation The circulation of blood between the heart and the rest of the body
