A private meeting of party leaders to choose candidates for office

Majority leader

the legislative leader elected by party members holding the majority of seats in the House or Senate

Minority Leader

the legislative leader elected by party members holding a minority of seats in the House or the Senate

Whips

assistants to the floor leaders in the House and Senate, responsible for monitoring how party members are thinking about bills and makes sure they are going to vote on bills

House Rules Committee

Works with the Speaker to direct the flow of major legislation. It is one of the oldest and most powerful committees of the House.
